Terms of Service
Last updated 31 August 2026
These terms govern your use of Corporate Translate, a self-serve document translation service operated by [PLACEHOLDER: COMPANY LEGAL NAME], a company registered in England and Wales under company number [PLACEHOLDER: COMPANY NUMBER], with its registered office at [PLACEHOLDER: REGISTERED ADDRESS] ("we", "us"). By uploading a document, paying for a job, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms.
1. The service
Corporate Translate translates business documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, plain text and SRT subtitle files today; PDF is on the roadmap - see the current list on the translate page) using an AI translation model. There is no human translator or editor in the loop unless you have separately arranged one with us.
- Every translated document is AI generated, and is clearly labelled as such on delivery, consistent with EU AI Act Article 50 disclosure requirements.
- We do not issue a certificate of accuracy, and we do not warrant that the translation is free of errors.
- Human expert review and post-editing is not currently offered. It is on our roadmap; if and when it launches, it will be a separate, clearly priced service.
2. The formatting guarantee
We translate inside your document's own structure so that headings, tables, styles and layout are preserved. If the formatting of your delivered document is materially broken as a direct result of our processing, we will refund the price you paid for that job in full.
This refund is your sole and exclusive remedy for a formatting defect in a delivered job. It does not limit any other right you have in relation to the quality of the translation itself, or any right that cannot be excluded by law (see "Liability" below).
3. Acceptable use
- You warrant that you own, or hold the necessary rights and permissions for, every document you upload and have translated using the service.
- The service is not intended for safety-critical use or patient-facing medical content, where a mistranslation could cause harm.
- We do not provide sworn, certified, or notarised translations of the kind required for courts, immigration authorities or other official bodies. If you need one, we can point you to a specialist human service.
- You must not upload unlawful content, or use the service in a way that infringes someone else's rights or breaches applicable law.
4. Pricing and payment
- Pay-as-you-go jobs are priced per word. The exact price is shown to you before you pay, based on the word count of your uploaded document. There is a minimum charge of £5 per job.
- All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP).
- We are not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is charged on the prices shown. If that changes, we will update our prices and these terms accordingly.
- Payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number - Stripe handles that directly under its own terms.
5. Delivery and your cancellation rights
The service is digital content and a digital service delivered to you immediately once payment is confirmed. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, when a digital service is delivered straight away, you can ask us to start immediately and, by doing so, lose your usual 14-day right to cancel once we do.
By starting a paid translation, you: (a) expressly request that we begin the translation immediately, rather than waiting out any cancellation period; and (b) acknowledge that your statutory right to cancel is lost once translation has begun. This does not affect your right to a refund under the formatting guarantee above, or any other right that cannot be excluded by law.
6. Liability
- Our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with a job is capped at the price you paid for that job.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of business, revenue, profit, or data beyond the job itself.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
7. Accounts
Creating an account is optional - translation works without one. Where you do sign in, we use a one-time link sent to your email rather than a password. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address secure.
8. Service availability
We aim to keep the service available and will use reasonable endeavours to do so, but we do not guarantee any particular level of uptime. We may suspend or change the service, in whole or in part, for maintenance, security, or other operational reasons.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example as the service changes or to reflect legal or regulatory requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when that last happened. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or the service, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence.
